When my friend first introduced me to a popular K-Pop group, BTS, I had no way for foreseening the hold that it would have on my life.
It started with BTS. Gorgeous Jungkook, sweet Jimin, sassy Suga, princess Jin, cheeky V, and the leader Rap Monster. I was drawn in through their amazingly tight choreography and their resonating lyrics.
Next came SEVENTEEN. 11 members, 3 units, come together as 1 team (17). At first I was surprised with the sheer number of the group. Having not much experience with K-Pop, I wasn’t used to the group sizes. Mingyu… 💜.
Then followed Ailee. The beautiful pop diva. The American-born singer reminds me of Jessica Mauboy and Jordan Sparks. I love her power and sassy lyrics with ‘I Will Show You’ rivalling Taylor Swift’s break up songs.
The sad thing about being an Aussie K-Pop fan is the language barrier. BTS released a new video 11pm last night and unfortunately when I tried to watch it at 11:30pm I couldn’t understand what Kookie (Jungkook) was saying. However, I know that subtitles will soon be at my rescue thanks to some amazing people.
I would recommend all of these idols to people who are interested in K-Pop or want to try something new. I am loving it and maybe you will too.
